Cooties Rescued Cuties

As a license 501(C)3, no kill animal shelter, Cooties Rescued Cuties is dedicated to providing a safe and loving home to abandoned, injured, abused, unwanted, neglected and hospice animals until a permanent loving adoptive home is found. Our goal is to educate the community about humane issues, to prevent the unnecessary breeding of animals due to not being spayed and/or neutered and help them find the resources to do so to limit overpopulation of these animals. To collaborate and work together with other rescues and shelters to try and help save the lives of those animals who are dumped, abandoned, injured and neglected.  Cooties Rescued Cuties operates through a network of volunteer foster homes and relies highly on fosters, adopters, volunteers and donations.

About us

Cooties Rescued Cuties is a licensed 501(C)3 non-profit animal rescue located in Steger, IL. We are a foster based rescue and rely mainly on fosters, volunteers, and donations. I personally have been saving dogs and helping shelters and rescues for 20+ years now. My love for animals started when I was just 4 years old. I was at a wedding with my parents and a little baby kitten was outside in the cold by itself. I took the kitten and hid it in my parents van with a blanket we had in there. When we got home and my parents seen me in the back asleep with a kitten....I got to keep her. I had her for 23 years before she passed and during that time I never stopped rescuing animals in need. For the past few years I've been getting furbabies that people were giving away for free to whomever would come and take them, NOT a good idea by the way as you DO NOT know the intentions of that person taking your pet, but I took in several unwanted pets over the last few years and had them vaccinated, spayed or neutered, and then found them a loving furever home. During this time I was also volunteering and fostering dogs with local shelters and rescues. Then one day I seen a dog i wanted to foster at a shelter in Chicago and only rescues could pull her, so I contacted a rescue I was helping and they wouldn't pull her for me and here it is 2 years later and that dog is stuck in boarding and still has no home to call her own. I decided to start my own rescue and me and my son would try to help save more animals and work as a community with other rescues and shelters to get more of these furbabies the medical care, food, attention, and loving home they all truly deserve. On March 30, 2021 we did just that. Our rescue is up and running and we have already helped 16 dogs find their furever homes and we have 2 in their foster to furever homes and 2 in foster care as of today!!! Don't forget that we are able to do what we do because of you fostering, adopting, volunteering and donating. You are the ones that help us continue to be able to save more dogs in need.
